We are a group of local Canterbury Mums who have teamed our local potter Tatyanna Meharry to create these beautiful ceramic mugs for a good cause.
We are Kat, Fiona, Amy, Jo and Jenni and between us have 10 kids. We live by the beach in Sumner, and enjoy a relaxed and laid back beach lifestyle (albeit with lots of kids...)
As Mum's ourselves we understand firsthand the chaos of kids and the importance of finding some 'me time' moments throughout the day. Its about finding those wee minutes of mindfulness where you can stop, breathe, pour yourself a cuppa and relax. Fill your emotional cup and allow yourself the time to check in with yourself. Its about knowing there is a whole tribe of Mums who have got your back.
Being a mum can be pretty isolating and sometimes you need to invite a friend over (ignore the washing or dishes...) and sit down for a cuppa and chat. It's sometimes about taking one day at a time, one cuppa at a time.
With 25% of Mums experiencing Post Natal Depression we see great value in sharing the message of self care and putting your own oxygen mask on first. We want to ease up on the Mum guilt and encourage Mums to unashamedly take some me time for themselves.
We are proud to align with Plunket and are contributing proceeds from each mug sold to helping and supporting Mums Mental health. We are also supporting our local Sumner kindy with $8-$10 from every mug sold going directly to them.
We see these mugs as making the perfect gift for a sister, friend, mum or dad alike. Perhaps even a treat for yourself to say 'ka pai Mumma you're doing awesome!'
The mugs are all limited edition as we wanted to maintain their specialness and they will form part of a larger collector series in the future. Each cup is also embossed with our signature queen Mumma logo - a gentle reminder that you are a queen! Your crown is already on your head... and on your Mug!
We have been inspired by our local environment with these mugs and hope to capture the calm of beachside living. 'Little cups of calm' we like to call them, or perhaps 'shots of serenity' if it's 5 o'clock somewhere and a bottle is asking to be popped!.... We have mixed into our clay sand from our local beaches and finished with a creamy glaze. The mugs feel beautifully cool and tactile to hold with their grainy sand texture - like holding a therapeutic stone.
We hope you enjoy your Mummy Mug as we much as we enjoyed creating them for you.
Relax, breathe and pour yourself a cuppa Mumma. You deserve it.
